Vistaite Jasper Cabochon 25ctThe rarest of jaspers, Vistaite is an old stock mined out stone from a ridge above Walton Lake, in the Ochoco Mountains, Oregon. The deposit has been extinct for decades. Recent reports of finds have been realised to be misidentified examples of nearby Skaggs or Ochoco Green Jasper rather then Vistaite. Discovered and mined in the 60s by Oregon rock shop owners Hoot Elkins and Shirts Quant, our supplier sourced material from Hoot's daughter Judy
This band of light moves side to side across the stone as the stone is moved in the light
amber is well-known for it's golden and orange hues
This Pink Imperial example is so pretty with light and dark antique and creamy pinks
less commonly in wood
and this stone has a rounded back surface
sourcing material in the most ethical way is of the upmost importance to us
