Magic CastleI was lucky enough to visit the Magic Castle shortly before I worked on this print, it had been on my bucket list for years, and I finally got the chance on my most recent trip to LA, it was so much fun. The club is incredibly strict about dress code, requiring a full suit, but I love that its one of the few places left in LA that still holds onto such traditions, preserving a sense of old school magic and ceremony. My favourite illusion of the night

I think I first saw Randy’s Donuts in Iron Man 2 and thought it was such a fun

By the time I’d fallen in love with LA and begun drawing its landmarks

I mentioned in the caption that the hotel is often referred to as “the most haunted hotel in America

as well as the last thing you glimpse before you leave

The Viper Room holds a special connection for me

You can’t talk about the Troubadour without delving into the wild

When I released the print

This artwork is my way of preserving that presence

Part of what makes it so memorable is its distinctive Googie style

but there was just something uniquely magical about those early trips

his incredible body of work continues to keep his legacy alive for new generations
