Sage 503L fly reel and spare spool (made by Hardy)For sale here is a Sage 503L fly reel and spare spool. Serial no. 0269. These reels were made by Hardy's in England. The reel is in excellent+ condition with only light wear around the rim and a bit on the foot. The spool is mint. The reel is 2 3 4" in diameter and has a spool width of 3 4 of an inch. Adjustable drag. Reversible retrieve and line guide though it is currently set up for RHW. The reel weighs in at a mere 3. 65 oz. and comes in the

The rod comes with a yellow cloth bag

There is some minor soiling and erosion of the grip near the hood (pictured)

which is polished

garnet red wraps which are black at the ferrules

Powell-style grip measures 6" in length and sits nicely in the hand

Ferrules are tight and sections are straight

The tiny Swiss-style ferrules have a perfect fit

The 6-inch full wells grip has been treated with a coating of some sort

It has no visible stamps on either plate

This rod feels like a very nice medium to medium-fast dry fly action - a good casting rod

and is recommended for use with a 4 or 5 weight line

No roller die stamp on the cap and there is no rear cork check but a wood lip straight to the grip
