As it proved more practical to wear one helmet rather than two, the visor was attached to the bascinet from the 14th century onwards. The bascinet was subsequently expanded so that it protected the entire head, including the neck. The replica is entirely handmade and is well suited to head circumferences of up to 63 cm.
