frankish mountain crystalThe jewel is a replica of a Frankish Merovingian original from the 7th 8th century, discovered in a grave field in Picquigny, France. This fine piece reflects the wealth of the early Middle Ages. The original is currently held in the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, England. Unlike the original, the 'crystal' of this jewel is crafted from polished glass, which is hand crafted and almost indistinguishable from real crystal.
