gladius noviomagusThe gladius is a replica of an original of the Mainz type, found in Nijmegen (the Netherlands). It forms part of the collection of Museum Het Valkhof in Nijmegen. Noviomagus was the most northerly Roman city in the Rhineland. The sword measures 84 cm in length. The hilt is crafted from wood, and the sword is supplied with a wooden scabbard, covered with black leather and brass ornaments.
The helmet is constructed from three main parts
