The surface of the candle holder looks rough, but is actually smooth to the touch. The round handle makes it easy to carry. A Note about Kan’nyū (Crackle Glaze)

One side of this tenugui shows a cat peeking out a window

with its rapid growth and hardy nature

which creates cracking effects (kan’nyū) on the finished surface

A red tag on the string says hoshigarasu on one side and "hand printed woodblock by Shinkougei" on the other

the wood grain appear more prominent

They also work as appetizer receptacles for chips or vegetable sticks with the smaller bowls of dip placed in the center

meaning "moon-sun-stars" in Japanese
