Clear silks tipped red, truncated ferrules, ferrule plugs, bright ferrules and guides, hook keeper. Comes with original bag and labeled tube. The rod weighs 6 1 2 oz. and was made with size 15 64 and 21 64 ferrules.

The reel seat is made of zelkova

One of ~20 ever made

No marks on the rims

It comes from the estate of Joseph Bates and was purchased through Oliver's auction

Medium full-flexing action

It has a single pawl/spring and no ball bearings (a "eunuch" model)

Serial #7161 made in 1949 by Cal Skinner

This rod also comes with one of Sam's business cards wrapped around the tube as well as a letter of authentication from Dana Gray -- Sam's protege who still makes rods under the Carlson name -- who has estimated the manufacture date of this rod to be 1970
