Bogdan Model 50 ReelAn excellent Bogdan model 50 salmon reel, the excellent "light salmon" version. Near mint condition, I'd say about 99. 9% mint. It may have had a line on it once but I can see no real signs of wear. 3 1 2" Diameter with a 1 5 32" spool width. RHW. Weighs in at a tidy 8. 9 oz, helped by a ventilated crankplate and the crank side of the spool. Single action, 1: 1 retrieve. Silver frame, spool, crank handle, nameplate, and oil cover (no poacher button).

I suppose this makes the reel the Hardy equivalent of the 1924 "inverted Jenny" stamp

The drag knob features a "click-ball mechanism" for its different settings

This older reel retains 80-85% of the original leaded finish

The original tips are down 3 5/8" and 4 3/8"

There is some minor soiling to the grip and some brassing to the cap and ring and rear cork check

The rod was made based on the specifications of a Pezon et Michel "Fario Club" at the request of a customer

but this is purely cosmetic and doesn't result in a crack on either side

Extensive porting of the frame and spool achieve a lighter package while retaining the strength needed for demanding saltwater situations
