This had not come my way since the big Cros Parantoux tasting held in 2003 and based on this most recent bottle
without any sense of heaviness
The 1949 is made in the mold of the 1953
pure and driving finish
developing those aromas of smoked bacon
yet retains its sense of balance and symmetry
A brooding and intensely earthy nose is comprised by notes of both red and dark berries that are trimmed in soft spice and sauvage hints
From the valley floor
the expressive nose displays fully mature aromas and the initial hints of sous-bois
volume and concentrated power to the caressing yet serious medium weight plus flavors that display very fine length on the dusty and youthfully austere finale
Reduction dominates the fruit today
along with the French oak (about 100% new)
