Gary Howells Bamboo Fly Rod 8'6" 2/2 #6A very nice Gary Howells bamboo fly rod, 8'6", 2 piece, 2 tips, built for a #6 line. Serial #4408. 4. 8 ounces. Mint condition. Medium fast action. The cane is done in a three up node pattern and oven tempered to a dark wheatstraw color. The wraps are medium brown with yellow edges. A single band of red at the keeper and nowhere else. The grip is an unusual 5" cigar (relatively short for an 8' rod) of 3/8" corks and it is fairly heavily soiled though there are signs that it had been cleaned at some point

There is a possible area of delamination 9" below the mid female ferrule

which is also in good condition with a fully functional leather strap and snap

signed and numbered print of "D" is for Dingley by artist Michael Knepp

The grip appears to have been cleaned as there is some light ridging

made in 1946 for Charles Wilson
