HL Leonard Model 38H Bamboo Rod 6'10" 2/2 #4For sale here is a special one of a kind H. L. Leonard Model 38H bamboo rod from the 1980s. The rod is in excellent original condition showing only light wear. The rod was intended to be 7' though there was a measuring mistake at the Leonard factory and it ended up being 6'10". Not wanting to reject the rod for this issue only, an appropriate tube and bag were made. The rod was sold by William Mills as a "Special" 38H. A letter of provenance from Ted

The rod features moderately tempered cane with copper-colored wraps

a rather unique characteristic

and it is adjusted via a range knob combined with a lever

The tips are mirrored

or any other signs of being fished and looks as though it just came from the factory

It doesn't get any better than this for spey fishing on larger salmon rivers

and three canvas accordion-style pockets
