This somewhat rustic effort is very Corton in basic character and a wine that's going to require patience

It is an utterly exceptional wine and a tribute to not only a great vineyard

or obtrusive tannin or acidity

It is difficult for readers who have never tasted Cuvee Madame to imagine a wine of such honeyed richness

This is markedly more mineral-driven than the Combottes with terrific detail and tension to the ultra-refined medium weight flavors that brim with tannin-buffering dry extract on the saline

There is very good richness and volume to the sleekly muscular middle weight flavors that possess just enough minerality to notice

but that's not the main attraction here

jammy aromas intermingled with scents of minerals and licorice

This superb wine does a slow build from the mid-palate on back to the massively deep finale

justifying my initial optimism
