The strong glazes are caused by the smelting pots being regularly heated and then cooled which causes a reaction with what is being melted

The overall condition is very good with attractive age related patina and clean marble

which is woven in a dense twill weave and brushed for texture

This mirror is an impressive size and has a very clean mirror plate which looks to be original
