I very much like the sense of vitality and masculine punch of the lush
2008 was a challenging vintage in Ribera del Duero
loamy soil nuances
blueberry/cassis-filled candy bar and vanilla ice cream melting in the mouth
It is an utterly exceptional wine and a tribute to not only a great vineyard
it still has some at least
blackberry and cassis
voluptuously-textured mouthful of exceptionally extracted port
and an almost Graves-like scorched earth character
Pretty much every component is better here than on the 2014
Mugnier made first-rate '98s and the Amoureuses is one of the clear successes of the vintage with its higly expressive and wonderfully complex nose that has gone secondary yet remains quite fresh
pure and dense
