Class 58 - Railfreight - 58040 - DCC Sound Fitted58040 was released to traffic on 16th March 1986. This locomotive is typical of the second batch of 15 Class 58s and has many differences from the earlier 35. The engine room doors were now fitted with proper handles, cab ventilation had been improved with the fitting of cab side vents, and the tall cab access handrails had changed to a full height version. Underneath, the bogies had been revised to a new design: the CP3A type with external sandboxes.

Initially retaining its Europorte brandings and working in both the UK and France in April 2015 it was moved to Brush Traction

this particular example survived until its last classified repair under BR in February 1984

The locomotive retained some of its Euro features such as the twin pipe air system

bringing all 16 of the non-Railfreight Distribution Class 92s under the same owner

the white wall tyres and silver buffers being maintained as much as possible

50007 and 50049 were outshopped in the operator’s steel blue and orange livery in March 2019
