Leonard Bimetal ReelA beautiful little H. L. Leonard, Pat. 1877 bi metal fly reel. Here is what many consider to be the classic American fly reel as made by Francis Philbrook and Edward Payne. 2 1 2" diameter with a 1" spool width. This one, with the name and patent date, is considered by most to be the first of these raised pillar reels, although several reels have surfaced that have the Leonard name in a cartouche, possibly stamped as such before the patent date was

Perfect mechanical condition with a nice loud click

Very minor use marks are present

It is serial number #99

There is a faint ring where a decal was on the top of the vice though this can easily be removed
