Century Pen, ink and grey wash drawing on laid paper. Inscribed to mount "A Sacrifice To Venus" Circa. 1785. Oval laid on to backing sheet 37 by 34 cms. 50 by 40 cms. Overall. Some time related wear and grubbiness to no real detriment. Provenance: Ex Iolo Williams Collection, Olympia Auctions October 2024 Lot 75. Rigaud was a Turin born painter of French descent who studied in Italy
He was also employed to turn the drawings made on Captain Cooks voyages into highly popular engravings
