Ponsot Clos de Vougeot Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru 2014This is so deeply colored that it's opaque. The expressive and strikingly complex nose features broad ranging notes of cassis, plum, sandalwood, spice, earth of the sauvage. There is superb richness to the voluminous, powerful and punchy flavors that display plenty of muscle on the youthfully austere finish.

There is both fine volume and intensity to the punchy flavors that are more refined than usual thanks to the fine grain of the supporting tannins on the attractively well-balanced and persistent finish

It is rich and pure

In the same vein as the nose the big-bodied flavors are denser and more powerful as the dry extract really imparts a textured palate impression on the sappy and velvety finale

It possessed huge quantities of fruit

As is the case with several wines in the range

blackberry and blueberry fruit

This full-bodied wine is silky

This exhibits that beguiling quality of inner mouth perfume on the sleek

but it was also one of my favorites here

The élevage lasted 16 months and was mostly in oval Stockinger 2

moving toward blacker berries

This terrific effort is very clearly built-to-age and I wouldn't dream of touching a bottle for at least 10 years and it should easily reward 20
