It is not as expressive as the 2012—it is a bit more backward—but it is a more serious wine in many ways
it is full-bodied and extremely rich
but not invisible
Pale gold in colour
a profound opaque purple color and enormous notes of lead pencil shavings intermixed with blackberry liqueur
This is quite floral with plenty of earth and assorted spice elements adding interest to the very fresh mix of green tea and red and dark berry fruit scents
it would be fair to say that it's not subtle
An exuberantly spicy nose features additional aromas of black cherry
Both 2013s are clearly the finest Eisele wines made under the administration of François Pinault and his top lieutenant
a scent of unsmoked
The freshness continues onto the appealingly energetic medium weight flavors that exude a fine bead of minerality on the more complex and slightly more persistent finale
with some 35% of the volume in barrique
