With stark monochrome simplicity, Newton created a piece of iconography I still find myself inspired by. In the making of L'air Barbs I was strongly influenced by the androgyny in this picture. L'air Barbs by 19 69 is evocative of Paris different personas such as the concrete alleyways, la banlieue

and watermelon

The silhouette is regular straight

and instead uses a completely randomized structure which at first glance appears to be a traditional plaid but upon closer inspection is more reminiscent of TV static
