23ST024A sailboat was dry docked on the edge of Madison's Lake Monona. I noticed the weathered paint and design work on the stern, it said "MILWAUKEE" in white, block letters across the back. A few years of weathering added character, and I thought a detail shot would be a compelling, somewhat abstract image. I didn't have my camera with me; left it at home on purpose that evening. I committed to come back first thing in the morning, and I did!

An early method of colorizing black and white photos was to apply oil paints directly to photographs

While I liked the woodcut look with two colors of ink (red and very light gray noise for the whites)
