Muted Rose

Muted RoseA small, early morning study in oil of the Little White Pet roses in my garden. Even though it was summer, a real autumnal feel was pervasive, and I enjoyed capturing the subtle colours and delicate petals of this dwarf rose. Unframed size 24 cm (H) x 18cm (W) x 1cm (D) (approx 9. 5 x 7 inches). Additional information: This original artwork was painted on Linen Canvas Board using high quality Michael Harding oil paints and finished with Gamvar gloss

with a beautiful golden light across the sea in the distance

pink and white hydrangea were thriving alongside the evocative architectural complex

The play of shadows on the green grass and the playful ducks near a local pond made this a memorable scene after a long winter

I wanted to make the garden's transition towards the summer season feel palpable through the strong light hitting the honey-coloured stone and the deep green of the fresh-cut grass
