Chateau Cantemerle Vintage 1987One of only 5 Haut Medoc estates to be included in the 1855 classification of the Medoc and Graves. Although it was not included in the original list, but added after some quick thinking by the owner at the time. The 1987 vintage suffers for following two and preceding three very good vintages. A wonderful vintage that can still give pleasure today

Bright and pink fruited

but some good wines were made in Penedes

After a succession of owners

The wine had good intensity and a pleasantly long finish

Regardless this was lovely and was drinking just a little younger than expected

Cyril Henschke first planted vines in Eden Valley in the 1960's

The parcels were blended three years after the harvest and bottle a year late

A property that went through the doldrums in the late sixties to mid eighties but since then has fully justified its classification as a Saint Emilion Premiers Grand Cru

Sometimes considered the second wine of the Dominus Estate
