The Pulse of Life #2Gillian lives and works on Bullongen country (Gold Coast). Her personal experience with mental illness, which peaked during the years of 2015 2018, provided the space, self examination, and support that ultimately led to her full time art practice. Gillian began exhibiting in 2021, with her work held in galleries and private collections. As a visual poet, shes fascinated by the multidisciplinary interplay between words and images. She uses

This painting reflects that process: the colours represent my place on the mood spectrum

Mounted on a secure stand

Yet within the fall

She spends much of her time working with her favourite medium – watercolour - and was recently supported in hosting her first solo exhibition

She gravitates toward simple designs

I'm in an evolving process - unpacking and understanding my experiences with sensory processing

but always returns to high-contrast drawings with black pencil on textured paper

while her red dress captures the soul and atmosphere that surrounds her
