2000s Pair of Model 402 Chairs by Aino and Alvar Aalto for Artek in Birch and Dark FabricThis is a pair of model 402 lounge Atelj chairs, designed by Aino and Alvar Aalto for Artek in 1933. This particular pair was born in the mid 2000s. These classic cantilever lounge chairs are formed of steam bent Birch wood, and retain their original dark black brown upholstery. The seat and back are padded for comfort. The chairs were originally purchased by an Ivy League institution and came from an office within the university. The price listed

This was acquired along with various other CI Designs pieces from a Boston-based architect

The color of the rosewood is still vibrant and original label is present as noted in photos

as the CTM was only produced for a decade

These chairs are in truly terrific condition

The legs are in very nice shape (although we had to re-glue some veneer on one of the legs

There is a patina to the steel

One or two of the glides were missing

which are in good to very good condition across the set
